福音（你們要飲我的爵杯。）
瑪竇福音 20:20-28
那時，載伯德兒子的母親，同自己的兒子前來，叩拜耶穌，請求他一件事。耶穌對她說：「你要什麼？」她回答說：「你叫我的這兩個兒子，在你王國內，一個坐在你的右邊，一個坐在你的左邊。」耶穌回答說：「你們不知道你們所求的是什麼，你們能飲我將要飲的爵嗎？」他們說：「我們能。」耶穌對他們說：「我的爵你們固然要飲；但坐在右邊或左邊，不是我可以給的，而是我父給誰預備了，就給誰。」那十個門徒聽了，就惱怒他們兩兄弟。耶穌叫過他們來說：「你們知道：外邦人有首長主宰他們，有大臣管轄他們。在你們中卻不可這樣；誰若願意在你們中成為大的，就當作你們的僕役；誰若願意在你們中為首，就當作你們的奴僕。就如人子來不是受服侍，而是服侍人，並交出自己的生命，為大眾作贖價。」

保祿宗徒致格林多人後書 4:7-15
弟兄們：我們是在瓦器中存有這寶貝，為彰顯那卓著的力量是屬於天主，並非出於我們。我們在各方面受了磨難，卻沒有被困住；絕了路，卻沒有絕望；被迫害，卻沒有被捨棄；被打倒，卻沒有喪亡；身上時常帶著耶穌的死狀，為使耶穌的生活也彰顯在我們身上。的確，我們這些活著的人，時常為耶穌的緣故被交於死亡，為使耶穌的生活也彰顯在我們會死的肉身上。這樣看來，死亡施展在我們身上，生活卻施展在你們身上。但我們既然具有經上所載的：「我信了，所以我說」那同樣的信心，我們也信，所以也說，因為我們知道那使主耶穌復活的，也要使我們與耶穌一起復活，並使我們與你們一同站在他前。其實，這一切都是為了你們，為使獲得恩寵的人越增多，感謝也越增加，好歸光榮於天主。
Reading 12 COR 4:7-15
Brothers and sisters:We hold this treasure in earthen(土製的) vessels(容器),
that the surpassing(超越) power may be of God and not from us.
We are afflicted(折磨) in every way, but not constrained(受限);
perplexed(困惑), but not driven to despair(絕望);
persecuted(迫害), but not abandoned;
struck down(擊倒), but not destroyed(毀滅);
always carrying about(攜帶) in the body the dying of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in(表現在)our body.
For we who live are constantly being given(賜與) up to death
for the sake of Jesus,
so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal(凡人) flesh(血肉).
So death is at work in us, but life in you.
Since, then, we have the same spirit of faith,
according to what is written, I believed, therefore I spoke,
we too believe and therefore speak,
knowing that the one who raised(復活) the Lord Jesus
will raise us also with Jesus
and place us with you in his presence.
Everything indeed is for you,
so that the grace bestowed(賜予) in abundance(豐富) on more and more people
may cause the thanksgiving to overflow(滿溢) for the glory of God.

"What do you wish?"
She answered him,
"Command that these two sons of mine sit,
one at your right and the other at your left, in your Kingdom."
Jesus said in reply,
"You do not know what you are asking.
Can you drink the chalice(杯爵) that I am going to drink?"
They said to him, "We can."
He replied,
"My chalice you will indeed(確實) drink,
but to sit at my right and at my left, this is not mine to give
but is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father."
When the ten heard this,
they became indignant(憤怒) at the two brothers.
But Jesus summoned(傳喚) them and said,

but to serve and to give his life as a ransom(贖金) for many."
